BHIM: Bharat Interface for Money, download, common errors and solutions
BHIM is a Mobile application dedicated for payment transaction in the easiest and quickest way using UPI interface. It has been developed by NPCI and is being continuously updated on regular basis. It is working on real time basis through virtual payment address or mobile number. Particularly BHIM does not levy any charges for transaction; however you need to enquire your bank for further details.
How to download BHIM: Bharat Interface for Money app is currently available on Android (Above 4) The BHIM App can be downloaded from Google Play store for smart phones. For feature phones by dialing *99# one can use Bharat Interface for Money.

There are many points, features which lure you to download the app instead of downloading other app:
Your account need not be enabled for mobile banking to use Bharat Interface for Money. Your mobile number shall have to be registered with the Bank.
To enable transfers directly using your bank account, your bank needs to be live on UPI (Unified Payment Interface) platform. All the banks, which are currently live on UPI, have been listed in the Bharat Interface for Money app.
You can set your UPI PIN by going to Main Menu -Bank Accounts -Set UPI-PIN for the selected account. You will be prompted to enter the last 6 digits of your Debit/ATM card along with the expiry date. You will then receive an OTP which you will enter and set your UPI PIN. Note - 'UPI-PIN is not the same as MPIN provided by your bank for mobile banking'.
Currently, Bharat Interface for Money supports linking of one Bank at a time. At the time of account set-up, you can link your preferred bank account as the default account. In case you want to link another bank account, you can go to Bank Account --> Click on the three dot on right side top of the page --> Choose Change Account.
This is a banking network (UPI) requirement. The mobile number which is used to register with Bharat Interface for Money is used to match the bank accounts linked against it
At the time of registration you will be providing us with the Debit card details and with the use your mobile number registered to your bank account, we will pre-fetch the details from your bank. All the information exchange happens over secure banking networks and we don't store it, your information is safe!
Why my bank is not in BHIM: Currently 36 banks are live on UPI. Many banks are getting on boarded soon. All the banks, which are currently live on UPI, have been listed in the Bharat Interface for Money app.

Common errors in BHIM app and their solutions:
OTP error solution for BHIM app: Use your mobile number which you have registered in your bank account in primary SIM card slot. Disable secondary SIM temporarily for registration, after registration you can enable secondary SIM again. Check your SMS sending setting, message sending setting should be from primary registered SIM only.
Device Binding failed error solution: Uninstall the BHIM app, check space in your mobile. Reinstall the BHIM app and start using error free.
Account does not exist error solution: Check that your mobile number registered with your bank. If not then get it registered with your bank and wait at least 48 hours to resolve the error. If your mobile number already registered with bank account, then it might happen that data base of your bank account not updated in NPCI data base.
How to use BHIM error free:
Close the BHIM app>Go to setting> application Manager>select BHIM app> clear cache for the APP
Repeat it frequently to use it error free.
BHIM currently support HINDI and ENGLISH language and expected to come soon in different languages.
